This collection specifically emerged during a difficult time, my country Syria was going through “war”. It is a group of individuals whose features are not clear, their features are ambiguous. They are not female or male, but they all live in a state of silence and prayer. This group was in a stage where we were experiencing a sense of helplessness. I named it “Syrian Icon” because I presented it in a manner that contains a lot of the spirit of an icon. Its individuals are ordinary humans, not saints, but they carry the aura of sanctity due to the magnitude of love and sacrifices they have made for their country to live.
